Food Memories Monday Link Party

Food Memories Monday - week of Sept 17, 2012

I am beyond excited to kick-off  FOOD MEMORIES MONDAY!

I love food memories. And one of the greatest things to me about food blogs, is stumbling onto a great story or a touching memory that has a connection to food. Almost all of us have them. It might be a story about something special our grandmother cooked. Or it could be a restaurant your Dad always took you to.

And if you don’t think you have any food memories, know that you are creating them right now. If you cook, or eat, then right NOW, you are creating food memories for your family. So if you don’t have those stories with a grandma, or your parents, or whoever, chances are you have something that is happening in your home that is creating it’s own food memories for your family.

That’s why I have this blog. It’s a place that I am documenting our family favorite recipes. But it’s also a place that I am sharing stories. Not many of the stories I share are from when I was a child (some, but not many). But they have a connection to our family and I share them so they won’t be forgotten.

Below is a few blog posts I have found and enjoyed because of the food story they tell. Please know that when I choose a blog post with a food memory, I am simply looking for stories that have touched me for whatever reason.

I’m always looking for new ones to share, so if you have a blog post that share a special food memory in your life, please share it in the linky below. You could be my next Food Memories Monday pick!

I love the idea of “food memories.” It’s so true…our family used to make buttered popcorn every night, and popcorn still reminds me of my parents. :) I’m happy to continue that tradition with my daughter.

I talk often about food memories on my blog as well, except I call it food culture. We all have our distinct family culture in regards to food. LOVE this link up! Looking forward to doing it again next Monday!

This is making me hungry! I have nothing to link, but I love looking at your site and the others who have added things here! Maybe I will be inspired to make dinner tonight.

Love food memories. You can close your eyes and your almost there. And if they are good as they should be…your smiling the whole time. Now I’ll have to post one up next week, with a frugal twist of course 😉

Home made pizza on Sunday nights with root beer floats! My dad loved to do this almost every week. I have so many ‘food memories’ – what a great view on some of our best memories. I also think of my travels – food is so much of the memories and experiences of other cultures.
