As part of the Restaurant.com #ReviewCrew, David and I tried out Las Vegas restaurant, Emery’s, located in Henderson, Nevada. Here’s what we ordered and our thoughts on the overall experience.
Not too long ago, David and I were itching to have another date night together. Rather than looking for a restaurant in our neighborhood, we decided we wanted to take a bit more of a drive….something we like to do on occasion.
We are regular users of Restaurant.com gift certificates. Through Restuarant.com, you can search for restaurants in your city or destinations you might be visiting, and buy discounted gift certificates for those restaurants. Since we wanted to take a drive, we purposefully used the search functions to look for restaurants that were a good distance from our house and it was then that I stumbled onto Emery’s – an Italian restaurant in the next city over (Henderson, NV). For just $10, I was able to buy a gift certificate valued at $25 — a $15 savings on our dinner.
Now here’s a little tip: while the usual price for a $25 gift certificate at Restaurant.com is $10, you can get them for even less if you buy during one of their many sales. Sometimes they even have sales where you can get them for $3…no joke. If I had played it right, I could have stocked up on certificates during one of their many sales (since they don’t expire). Just a little tip from me to you! 😉
With my Restaurant.com certificate for Emery’s printed, we headed out to dinner. Emery’s La Barrista Catering & Restaurant is located in the historic Water Street District in Henderson. While we visit Henderson almost weekly, this was our first time on Water Street. I really enjoy historic districts, so knowing that Emery’s was in this area was already a plus to me.
Walking in, my eye was instantly drawn to all the wine. I’m an occasional wine drinker — sometimes I get a glass, sometimes I don’t, but I have to admit that when I enter a restaurant with lots of bottles displayed that it generally sways me to ordering a glass.
The decor had a very simple, rustic, Italian feel. Lots of green and purple was used, which reminded me of the color palette of of grapes growing on a vine. The dining room at Emery’s is very quaint with probably no more than 15 tables in the restaurant.
After we were seated, we ordered our drinks and soon after delicious bread was brought to our table with a herb butter. We looked over the menu, but since I had already looked over Emery’s menu on the Restaurant.com site, I was pretty sure that I would be ordering the Chicken Parmesan (probably my most favorite Italian dish). David decided he wanted to go with the Veal Parmesan, a first time for him.
In looking over the appetizers, the bruschetta sounded delicious, so we decided to order that as well. Due to the lighting in the restaurant (and shooting with my iPhone), I feel like the photos don’t do this justice, but the bruschetta was SO good and I highly recommend it. Toasted bread, topped with diced tomatoes, plenty of garlic, olive oil, and basil. It was fresh and delicious, with a portion was quite generous too.
All of the entrees at Emery’s come with your choice of soup or salad. We both went with the salad which field green tossed with a balsamic vinaigrette, cherry tomatoes, red onions, and carrots. It was good and we’d order it again, but pretty much your typical salad.
Next up was our entrees — and oh wow! The portions were huge and the sauces was wonderful — very fresh and full of flavor. The chicken cutlet was breaded and cook perfectly. David loved his Veal Parmesan too. If you are a cheese fan, like I am, you’ll be particularly happy — lots of ooey, gooey mozzarella. Both of our entrees were served with a side of penne pasta too.
One of our regrets at Emery’s is that we didn’t order dessert to take home — we were so full after our meal that we knew we couldn’t eat another bite and I didn’t think about taking something home. But, I’ll do better next time.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Emery’s and we look forward to visiting again. If you are looking for Las Vegas restaurants, and don’t mind the drive to Henderson, I recommend giving Emery’s a visit.
