Road Trip Snacks Taste Test

Road Trip Snacks Taste Test

Buying road trip snacks at your usual grocery store -- rather than at the gas station or tourist spots -- is one of the best ways to save money for family trips. I usually buy store brands, or sale items, but there is a bit of a debate in our house about if the store brand is best or equal to the name brand. So, I decided to have a little fun with my family and settle the debate by having a road trip snack taste test. … [Read more...]

Spiced Nuts

Spiced Nuts

As usual, I had bigger holiday plans than what I actually had time for. I had a long list of goodies that I wanted to make for Christmas, but time ran short. One of the things I wanted to make the most was Spiced Nuts. I've tried making Spiced Nuts before (with a different recipe than what I am sharing today) and I wasn't really happy with the results. But this year, I was determined to do it right. I had several pound of almonds ready to go, and but even though they are so simple to make, I … [Read more...]

Peanut Butter Pretzel Cheesecake Bars

When my husband and I were kids, we watched The Three Stooges occasionally, but our kids had never heard of them. Mattie has seen the preview for the new Three Stooges movie and mentioned that he'd like to see it, especially since it stars Sean Hayes (from Will & Grace -- and Mattie has seen most of the old episodes with his sister). Many times I tell him to wait for a movie to come out on DVD. But he was in luck for The Three Stooges Movie: Smart and Final is offering a  great deal....a … [Read more...]

5 Easy Food Ideas for your NASCAR Party

5 Easy NASCAR Foods

In our home, my husband is the main NASCAR fan and he watches all the races. There are a few races each year, though, that have become a larger event in our house: Bristol and Las Vegas. Edamame Dip + Cars 2 Movie Night

Movie Night! This weekend, we rented Cars 2 from the Blockbuster Express machine. I enjoy making themed snacks, dinners, or desserts go along with some of the movies we watch and Cars 2 is the perfect movie for a themed snack. I did a bit of research before hand, and learned that 1 of the 3 races in the movie, took place in Japan. This seemed liked a perfect opportunity to finally make Edamame Dip, which I've wanted to make for the longest time. But, before I got busy making my Edamame … [Read more...]
