Here are over 20 homemade marshmallow recipes that you can make at home — full of fluffy and gooey goodness. You’ll find a large variety here: gourmet, flavored, gluten-free, egg-free, and even a couple marshmallow fluff recipes.
A few weeks ago, I headed to the store to buy a new candy thermometer. One of my favorite things to make is homemade marshmallows, but someone (who shall remain nameless) broke my candy thermometer while washing dishes. I’m not complaining too much — if the risk of someone else washing dishes is a broken candy thermometer from time to time, it’s probably worth it.
I headed to the checkout with my new thermometer, plus a few other marshmallow making ingredients. As the cashier was ringing up my items, she asked if I was baking something. I told her “yes”, but then quickly added, “well, actually I’m making marshmallows”.
The look on her face was priceless. I truly wish I was able to capture her expression in that moment. She dropped her mouth open and her eyes widen to an impossibly large size. She asked “you can MAKE marshmallows at home??”
I smiled and told her that you can. We had a brief exchange where I explained that yes, they are more work than opening a bag of marshmallows, but they really aren’t that hard and the results are amazingly good.
I don’t know if she ever will try making homemade marshmallows, but the whole encounter reminded me of how astounded my Dad was at the idea of me making marshmallows at home. They were the first big thing I made in my KitchenAid, which was a surprise gift from my Dad.
Unfortunately, my dad passed away about a month after giving my KitchenAid to me. But I feel very blessed that he was around to see my first batch of homemade marshmallows. He was so very proud of them, as you can see in his comment on my Iced Coffee Marshmallows post (just over a week before he passed away). He raved about them to his friends at work too.
To further share the marshmallow love, like my Dad shared over my own marshmallows, I’m delighted to share with you a delicious collection of marshmallow recipes from other food bloggers. I chose to share them today because it’s my Dad’s birthday — he would have turned 66 years old. He thought it was awesome that people like me, and bloggers in general, could share recipes, ideas, and more on our blogs. I think he would have loved me sharing all these with you. And, just like my Dad thought I was talented, I think these bloggers are extremely talented too.
You’ll find a large variety of marshmallows below — lots of flavored marshmallows and even gluten-free and egg-free marshmallows. I’ve also included a couple homemade marshmallow fluff recipes. Enjoy!

I have a bit of a candy thermometer fear… and then of course I ended up breaking it last year. I need to get over my fear and buy a new one. These marshmallow recipes look awesome. Also, reading your dad’s comment touched my heart. How sweet!
