The end is here for my Sears Grilling Photography course. Over the last several weeks, I’ve been given assignments designed to challenge me to take great grilling photos. Our assignment this week is to share with you our 10 favorite photos during this course.
In the 3rd week of Sears Grilling course, we were given information on taking better quality product shots. There was a couple shots I took that I felt showed the Sears products well. One was this of my husband’s Craftsman Grilling Tools. I wanted to show how the tools have “wrench” cutouts on them:
I took this shot to show the name brand, Craftsman, and how the grilling tools had handles that looked like screwdrivers.
While this shot doesn’t seem to show a lot, I like it because it does show what the Char-Broil TRU Infrared Grill surface looks like.

In our 4th week, we learned about taking photos of our food on the grill from various angles and stages. I liked this close-up shot, which showed my homemade pizza crust in the process of grilling.
This shot was tricky to capture as the grill was so hot, but I liked how it turned out. I wish I had bounced my lighting better so that it would show off the top right a bit better, but this is something I will continue to work on.

In our 5th week, we started working on our plating and staging of finished grilled foods. While this photo isn’t perfect, I did like the colors and the lighting. The staging was simple, but I also think it worked.
This photo of my plated Grilled Tequila Lime BBQ Chicken was also a favorite. I stayed with a white plate and bowl for our beans, but used a lime placemat to play off the name of the chicken, which also worked with the fruit in the top right corner.
I love any excuse to use red in my food photos, so this one is a favorite for that reason and that I like the multiple textures and layers that I used. I see things I could have done better, but overall, I believe this one shows my progress at using more colors and different backgrounds.

In our 6th week, we had a party with grilled food. We had individually made Grilled Pita Pizzas. This week focused on pulling together all of our food photography skills. One of my favorite photos I have taken is this one of the stack of Greek pita breads.
And my final, and most favorite grilling photo, was this of a grilled pita pizza with zucchini, onions, mushrooms, and spinach. I like pretty much everything about it and I feel it sums up best where I am going with my food photography.
