Let’s say you want to have pizza, but don’t want to make it homemade. But, you are looking to save some money, so having a couple pizzas delivered isn’t the best option for you either.
If you are like our family, you might pick up a “take and bake” pizza. It’s an occasional option for us, but there is seldom a pizza that is exactly what I am craving: one with lots of vegetables and no meat — or if there is meat, only chicken. Most of my family is happy with the options available (the typical pepperoni or other meaty pizzas), but I’m almost always the odd man out.
My solution? Makeover a take and bake pizza! Here’s how I did it:
1. Buy a cheese take and bake pizza. At our Walmart (in their deli area), a big 16″ extra large cheese pizza costs just under $7.
2. Before baking, top with vegetables that you like. If you plan this right, you might be able to clean out your fridge with an assortment of leftover items from other dinners. We had big dinner salad the day before, so I had leftover sliced onion, olives, and mushrooms. I also had a grilled chicken breast leftover from another previous dinner, so I sliced that up too. If you don’t have leftovers at home, just grab the toppings you want at the store.
3. Bake per the instructions on the take and bake pizza. If you feel that your pizza could use an extra few minutes, feel free to adjust, but I found the instructions on the pizza still worked perfectly for us.
So easy and finally a take and bake pizza that includes the toppings I want.
What would you add to a cheese pizza to make it your own?

This is such a great idea! By the end of a long day, who wants to make a homemade pizza? That may be a fun weekend idea, but your take and bake suggestion is definitely the way to go on a Monday night! Thanks for sharing.

This is great. My family eats a ridiculous amount of pizza.

I like to add chopped up fresh baby spinach and thinly sliced tomatoes and fresh basil to mine. I also sometimes semi-home make mine using the frozen bread dough. If you take it out in the morning it’s ready to roll out and use for pizza that night.
