Ingredients
Scale
- 16 ounce package bacon
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 cans pork and beans (15 ounces each)
- 1 can butter beans (15 ounces, rinsed and drained)
- 1 can dark red kidney beans (15 ounces, rinsed and drained)
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup ketchup
Instructions
- Cut bacon into pieces. In a large pot, cook bacon over medium-heat heat until fully cooked and crispy. Turn off heat and remove bacon from grease and set aside. Discard bacon grease. In the same pot, cook ground turkey and onion over medium-high heat. Cook until meat is fully cooked and onions are tender. Turn off heat and drain off any remaining fat.
- Return cooked bacon pieces to the pot. Heat pot over low-medium. Add remaining ingredients and combine gently. While stirring occasionally, continue heating until the entire mixture is hot.
Notes
–Feel free to use ground beef, instead of turkey, if you prefer.
–If you are concerned about sugar content, you may want to start with 1/4 cup of brown sugar and increase up to 1/2 cup, if necessary.
