With 11 tomatoes in every jar, Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce is our richest, thickest recipe* ever!
When I was a kid, dinnertime always was at our big oak dining room table with all of my siblings. Our parents would call us to dinner and they would dish up our plates. We would argue over who got to sit in the King’s Chair — a larger, more ornate chair that had arms. As the oldest child, I’m sure my siblings would tell you that I got to sit in the King’s Chair more than the rest of them (they’re probably right).
Dinnertime was a fun and memorable for my sisters, and brother, and I. Our parents didn’t eat with us, so it was just us kids. We would talk and laugh and mess around. I would start a round or two of “20 Questions” or “I Spy” with them. I suppose some people might think that it’s sad that we didn’t eat with our parents, but it didn’t bother us at all. We were together and it was the very best part of our day.
Sometimes, my mom would make a dinner that were a lot of work. But most of the time, those dinners were simple. Fish sticks, tuna noodle casserole, or grilled cheese sandwiches. But the truth is, that it didn’t matter if the meal took hours to make or only minutes. Each dinner was memorable because of being together and because of the conversation and games. And because of the King’s Chair. It didn’t matter if the meal was simple or complicated.
I’ve been a mom for 23 years and dinnertime is still the most important part of my day. Just like when I was a kid with my siblings, my husband and I come together with our kids, regardless of what else might be happening in the day. And just like the meals my parents served, I’ve learned over the years that easy meals I make for my kids are just as memorable as the meals that take me hours to prepare. I generally stick with dinners that my family loves, but yet save me time and get me out of the kitchen fast.
A good example is our favorite Oven Baked Meatball Sandwiches. Rather than making homemade sauce, I use Ragú Sauce which makes this an easy dinner idea. You can get the recipe for my Oven Baked Meatball Sandwiches, but for even more easy-to-create meals that help you keep a priority on family mealtime, check out Facebook.com/RaguSauce.
