When David and I visited Charleston, South Carolina in May 2013, I didn’t make plans to do any site-seeing. We were flown there on behalf of a company I’ve been doing work for and they had a fun itinerary all set for us…which was quite packed. We had an unbelievable time and everything they had planned was perfect.
We were only in Charleston for 3 days and 2 nights, but on our final day, the company purposely planned for us to have “free time” — a few hours before our flight left that we were able to visit the city without a schedule. We left our bed and breakfast with cameras around our necks and made our way to as many places as we could.
Those few hours was quite memorable (including the downpour of rain that happened quite unexpectedly), but there was still so much more I would have loved to have seen…and eaten. Is there ever enough time when you are on vacation?
This week, I’ve been loving the Earth’s Finest City Guide – Charleston, SC, which is created by FIJI Water. It has beautiful images of some of the best places to see in Charleston…if only I had seen this months ago. Sure, with only a few hours left on our final day, we would not have been able to visit most of these places, but I would have been able to pick one of the restaurants for our lunch. While the place we ate at was good, it wasn’t much different than something we could have had here in Las Vegas.
When we get back to Charleston again — oh and how I hope we do — I would love to have these experiences I found in the Earth’s Finest City Guide:
Lunch and coffee at Caviar and Bananas
Seared Scallops at The Macintosh
Southern Fried Chicken at Martha Lou’s Kitchen
Cocktails at The Gin Joint
Coppa with English Peas and Radishes at Cypress
Ricotta Gnocchi alla Bolognese at Fig
Of course, this is just a short Charleston “to eat” list…there is so much in Charleston that I’m sure I would always feel like I’m missing something. What are your favorites in Charleston, SC?
