When I've seen Green Goddess dressing on the grocery store shelves, I've ignored it. I wasn't sure what was in it and I didn't want to know.
Then, on the Home Cooking Memories Facebook page, Robin of Dinner with Friends, gave me a grilled recipe suggestion. The recipe was for a grilled romaine salad with a
OXO Salad Dressing Shaker
Do you make your own salad dressing?
I'm totally new to it, mostly because I've always had this idea that making your own salad dressing was a pain. I see great dressing recipes on lots of blogs, but I never make them.
I was sent an OXO Salad Dressing Shaker to try out and now I am loving making my own salad dressing! It's frugal and I'm having fun playing with ingredients to get a healthy dressing that my whole family loves. It's really not that hard to make either.

Venturing into Food Styling
I've officially made it through my 5th week of my food photography course. Woohoo!
This week, our homework was to use our food styling skills to photograph three grilled meals, that were finished and plated. We were to use a variety of angles, staging, and lighting methods.
I thought this week would be SO much easier than last weeks shots of the actual grilling in process, but it really wasn't. However, I do find it more satisfying to play with staging and the styling food. I'm really enjoy
Scalloped Potatoes (Gratin Dauphinois)
When I was a kid, my mom used to watch Julia Child on TV. I believe it was Julia Child & Company, although I can't be sure. I can't say that I paid a whole lot of attention to her show, but I remember thinking that her voice and the things she would say were pretty funny. I remember thinking how she was probably the best cook ever, since she had a TV show and cookbooks and so many people talked about her. I also thought the food she cooked was "fancy", because it wasn't the things we ate

I've heard a lot about how good kale is for you, but other than making kale chips once or twice, I have no experience with it. I spotted this recipe in the January 2012 issue of Better Homes and Garden and I liked that it included kale. It seemed that with the cheese and pasta (very similar to my own macaroni and cheese recipe), this might be a great way of introducing kale to the kids as part of an actual dinner. The question was: would they like it?

Photographing Food on the Grill
I'm into the 4th week of my food photography course, courtesy of Sears Grilling. This week, our assignment was to photograph three meals, in the process of being grilled, from a variety of angles, lighting, etc.
This assignment wasn't about the steps or the recipe, it was just about the actual grilling, so please excuse the lack of recipes and step-by-step instructions. I do hope you'll enjoy seeing some of the shots I captured:
