Recently, we had the opportunity to go to Las Vegas restaurant, Fiamma Trattoria & Bar, in the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino for an Italian beer tasting of beers from brew master, Leonardo Di Vincenzo of Birra Del Borgo.
I enjoyed all of the beers I sampled at Fiamma, but if I had to pick my favorite it would be L ‘Equilibrista. It’s a beer that is made with wine yeast and the bottle is conditioned with champagne yeast, so it makes for a very unique beer.
We also sampled food made by Fiamma’s Executive Chef, Pierpaolo Pittia. Each dish was paired with one of Leonardo Di Vincenzo’s beers. My favorite dish of the night, was the Sausage Stuffed Gnocchi with Spicy Sundried Tomatoes, Broccolini, and Calabrese Peppers.
Overall, we enjoyed six of Leonardo Di Vincenzo’s craft beers: L’equilibrista, Genziana, Enkir, ReAle Extra IPA, 25Dodici, and Sedicigradi. We also had some photo opp’s with the brew master himself.
Fiamma also had several raffles during the event. One was for a beautiful, big bottle of ReAle. I would have loved to take this home, but unfortunately didn’t win.
This was the first time I had tasted Italian craft beers, but I quickly learned that Birra Del Borgo knows what they are doing. My wife and I had a wonderful time and we can’t wait to go back and enjoy some ReAle Extra on tap at Fiamma.
