We’re giving away a free DIY Ice Cream Cone Wrapper Template (for Photoshop or PSE users) that can be used to create custom ice cream cone wrappers for parties, get-togethers, or to add a special touch to family dessert night. Don’t have Photoshop? We have an option for you too!
Summer is almost here and that means it’s time for ICE CREAM! While ice cream certainly doesn’t need to be fancied up to be delicious, sometimes you might want to dress up your ice cream cones a bit. Maybe you’re having a party or a get-together. Or maybe you just want to make dessert night even more special. Whatever the reason, I have a solution for you: a DIY Ice Cream Cone Wrapper.
This free template I’ve created is for those who use Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (PSE). You can use this template to match any party theme or event, such as birthdays or family reunions and you can even personalize them with names or dates. These wrappers will work for sugar cones (the ones with the pointy ends).
Here is how to make your own Ice Cream Cone Wrappers with our template:
1. After you have download the Ice Cream Cone Wrapper Template, open it in Photoshop or PSE. The template has two open, empty spaces as shown in the image below (the grey and white checkerboard area). This is where color or paper will show through when a layer of color or a digital scrapbooking paper is placed on the layer below the template.
TIP: Want some great digital scrapbooking papers for your cones? Etsy has many wonderful designers, like my friend: Trish Yochum Designs.
2. Place a digital scrapbooking paper of your choice in the layer directly below the template layer OR create a new layer directly below template and fill it with a color of your choice. The image below shows you the template on the top layer and a pattern paper on the bottom layer. Notice how the paper is now showing through the previous empty areas, giving you the ice cream wrapper shape.
3. Print out your template that has the digital pattern paper or color added to it. I print right from Photoshop onto either white cardstock or a good quality copy paper. Cardstock makes for a nicer presentation, but isn’t quite as easy to wrap around the cone as copy paper. If you are creating for a party, I would recommend the cardstock. If using for everyday use, copy paper works well.
NOTE: You may also want to save your template as a PSD file with a new file name for safekeeping.
After printing, carefully cut out each ice cream cone wrapper.
4. Carefully wrap the wrapper around a sugar cone, paying careful attention to lining up the top edges of the wrapper. Then, using tape (that’s what I usually use) or your preferred adhesive (like a glue stick) to secure the wrapper around the cone. Be careful to not get glue on the cone! Repeat with your remaining cones.
TIP: If you are making many cones, use just one ice cream cone to make your wrappers. You can pre-wrap & secure each wrapper and easily slide it off the cone. Make all your wrappers and when you are finished, you can easily slip the cones into the wrappers.

I absolutely adore these cone wrappers. The comic ones are a hoot, too! You are so creative and talented.
BTW, I’m dropping by from the Dream Create and Inspire link party. Come to find out, I just left a comment on your husband’s site. How wonderful that I happened to like both of your ideas! You are both so creative.
I mentioned on his site that I’m trying to grow my own link party. I invite you to share this link (and 2-3 more) at Grandma Ideas Sharing Time Link Party at http://grandmaideas.com. My readers would really, REALLY enjoy these wrappers.
All the best,
Nina
