Description

The best of both worlds: cinnamon buns + donuts! This Glazed Cinnamon Bun Baked Donuts recipe is baked in the oven, includes two delicious icings and a cinnamon topping that will make you swoon! These are so good anytime, but especially wonderful with a cup of coffee or for serving to during a special breakfast or brunch.

BAKED DONUTS:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoons butter melted

CINNAMON TOPPING:

  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoons unsalted butter softened

CINNAMON ICING:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

WHITE ICING:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a donut pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, sugar, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter.
  • Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, whisking together until there are no longer any clumps. Spoon about 3 tablespoons of the batter into each donut slot in the pan.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon topping ingredients well, until its all an even consistency. Sprinkle the mixture over the donut batter.
  • Bake in the oven for 7-9 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to rest for 2 minutes in the donut pan, then transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the cinnamon icing ingredients until smooth. Transfer the icing to a sealable bag, cut a small hole in the tip, and drizzle over the donuts until it’s covered to your liking, or it runs out.
  • In a separate small bowl, stir together the white icing ingredients.  Transfer the icing to a sealable bag, cut a small hole in the tip, and drizzle over the donuts until it’s covered to your liking, or it runs out. Allow the icing to dry about 10-20 minutes before serving.
