This week, I will be headed to Mixed, my first food blog conference. One of the sponsors for Mixed is OXO -- the makers of some of my favorite kitchen tools (um, shout out to my OXO kitchen scale).
OXO has asked us to share our favorite cookie recipe and help get the word out about Cookies for Kids’ Cancer -- a cause founded by two OXO employees who were inspired by their 2-year old son’s battle with cancer. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer supports people everywhere to help fight pediatric cancer –

It's #SundaySupper time again and this week our theme is Helping Hands. Each participating food blogger is sharing a recipe for something that can be made to give to someone who might be going through a rough time...for whatever reason.

Christmas in Vegas: Holiday Lights at Las Vegas Speedway
One of our favorite Christmas traditions is viewing Christmas lights from the comfort of our car. Ever since our kids were little, we would pick a night to get some hot chocolate or coffee (usually at a mini market) and drive around to see the Christmas lights in our town.
But, for over 10 years now, our Christmas tradition is going to the Speedway to see Christmas lights.
It started with the drive-thru holiday lights in Bristol, TN at the Speedway in Lights. Seeing them there is one of

Food Memories of Hostess: Wonder Bread and Twinkies
It was announced today that Hostess Brands, Inc. has shut down all operations.
No more Twinkies, Wonder Bread, Ho Ho's, and Sno Balls.
Well, unless there is some change or the brands are purchased and put back on store shelves. Time will tell, that's for sure.

This month, I will be attending Mixed, my very first food blogging conference. I am beyond excited, but I'm also a bit nervous as well. I'm ready to learn all I can, have fun and am really looking forward to getting to know other food bloggers that I've only known by reading their blog posts.
One of the fun events at Mixed will be a Mixed Mini Bake Off, sponsored by Dixie Crystals. Myself, and lots of other Mixed attendees, are posting favorite cookie recipes in the pre-conference "BAKE IT
Chicken Bacon Mac and Cheese
Growing up, we didn't have homemade macaroni and cheese very often. Most of the time when we did have it, it was a boxed variety. We ate the boxed macaroni and cheese A LOT. It was a side dish for hot dogs, hamburgers, fish sticks...you name it.
I, however, have been making homemade mac and cheese for years. Generally when I make it, I don't include meat, like this version does, but sometimes I mix things up a bit and do something different.
This Chicken-Bacon Macaroni and Cheese is one such
Orange Spiced Roasted Chickpeas
I've been making and giving food gifts from the kitchen for years. When David and I were first married, I did so mostly because it was frugal. We didn't have much money for buying gifts for extended family and friends, so I would give gifts that I could bake - breads, cookies, candies -- even savory items from time to time. Making a loaf of banana bread didn't cost much, but it always seem to make people happy.
