Autumn is in full effect in most of the United States and so are fall gatherings. If you are looking for a fall sangria recipe for an upcoming party or get-together or perhaps, your Thanksgiving dinner, you’re in the right place. This cocktail combines red wine with plenty of fruit and apple cider to create a fruity fall cocktail you’ll want to have every fall.
Sangria is traditionally an alcoholic drink with Spanish origins. It’s commonly made with red wine, however, there are many variations and some are made with white wine.
Ingredients Needed for Autumn Apple & Pear Sangria:
- Apple (1 – We used a Fuji Apple – Peeled)
- Pear (1 – We used a Green D’Anjou Pear – Peeled)
- Red Wine (1 – 750ml Wine – We used Pinot Noir)
- Brandy (1/4 Cup)
- Apple Cider (2 Cups)
- Optional: Cinnamon Sticks for garnish
Cooking Equipment Needed for Autumn Apple & Pear Sangria:
To make this Autumn Apple & Pear Sangria recipe, you’ll need: a bottle of red wine, Brandy, apple cider, an apple (we used a Fuji Apple), and a pear (we used a Green Anjou Pear). We recommend buying a wine you like but using one that is less expensive — you don’t need an expensive wine to make sangria.
Making this fall sangria recipe is very easy — so easy, that you almost don’t need a recipe for it. The majority of your prep will be in cutting the apple and pear into chunks, but it should be a relatively quick process.
In a large pitcher, you will add all of your chopped fruit. Next, add the red wine, the Brandy, and the apple cider. Stir to combine them all together.
Chilling your Autumn Apple & Pear Sangria is an important step, so make sure that you don’t start making it an hour before your party or dinner. We recommend that you allow your sangria to chill for at least 6 hours, but preferably overnight. This helps the fruit flavors to steep into the wine.
You can serve from your pitcher, but if you wish, you may want to pour the sangria and fruit into a smaller wine carafe for serving, such as the one shown in our photos.
This Autumn Apple and Pear Sangria is beautiful without a garnish, but if you wish to fancy things up, you can add a slice of apple or pear. A cinnamon stick is a nice touch too.
