Our traditional dinner for Christmas Eve is a Mexican fiesta, complete with homemade tamales, tacos and enchiladas. It's a family favorite, but truth be told: it's a LOT of work.
Because of all the work I put into the main meal, the last thing I want to do is put a huge focus on appetizers or snacks. Ok, I know there is some domestic goddesses who would give just as much attention to the appetizers as the tamales, but that's not me. I do like to have a few things available to keep everyone

Christmas Cupcake Holders (made with champagne flutes)
Making cupcake holders out of champagne flutes is an easy idea, but makes a fun presentation for your Christmas parties or get-togethers.
You can use any champagne flutes you wish to use -- I used colored plastic ones (cost was about $2 for 6 glasses), but you could also use clear plastic ones. If you want to make them more elegant, you could use glass champagne flutes, which can even be found at many dollar stores.

Tips for Healthier Family Meal Planning & Cooking

In the book Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think, by Dr. Brian Wansink, he shares how even small changes in people’s everyday food decisions can make a positive difference on their health.

I mentioned about a month ago that I was planning a Men in Black 3 viewing party. My husband & I missed it in theaters (our kids saw it though). Our son kept saying that he couldn't wait for it to come out (by
Chocolate Chip Coconut Cookies (with Coconut Oil)
This week, I will be headed to Mixed, my first food blog conference. One of the sponsors for Mixed is OXO -- the makers of some of my favorite kitchen tools (um, shout out to my OXO kitchen scale).
OXO has asked us to share our favorite cookie recipe and help get the word out about Cookies for Kids’ Cancer -- a cause founded by two OXO employees who were inspired by their 2-year old son’s battle with cancer. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer supports people everywhere to help fight pediatric cancer –

Christmas in Vegas: Holiday Lights at Las Vegas Speedway
One of our favorite Christmas traditions is viewing Christmas lights from the comfort of our car. Ever since our kids were little, we would pick a night to get some hot chocolate or coffee (usually at a mini market) and drive around to see the Christmas lights in our town.
But, for over 10 years now, our Christmas tradition is going to the Speedway to see Christmas lights.
It started with the drive-thru holiday lights in Bristol, TN at the Speedway in Lights. Seeing them there is one of
