Gingerbread House Milkshake Recipe Ingredients
For this easy Gingerbread House Milkshake recipe, you will need:
- Vanilla Ice Cream and Milk
- Spices (Ginger, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Allspice)
- Vanilla Extract
- Vanilla Frosting
- Gingersnap Cookies and Gingerbread Man Cookies
- Assorted Candies (Old-Fashioned Holiday Candy Mix, Peppermint Candies, and Gumdrops)
Oh, and see those adorable gingerbread man cookies in our photos? Those are from the Dollar Tree! You can find them in a 2-pack cellophane package in the Christmas candy section. If you can’t find them at your Dollar Tree, you can usually buy gingerbread man cookies in the Christmas food section of many grocery stores. If you’d rather buy online, these would work well: Archway Holiday Gingerbread Man Cookies. And here’s a homemade gingerbread men cookies recipe if you prefer.
In addition to the food ingredients listed above, you’ll also need two glasses that are about 10-12 ounces each (or more than 2 glasses if you are multiplying this recipe). We also recommend serving these Gingerbread House Milkshakes with colorful straws.
The first step is to generously apply the vanilla frosting to the rims and the top edge of two milkshake serving glasses. You’ll want to apply enough frosting so it covers about 1-2″ of the top edge of the glass.
Immediately, apply your assortment of candies to the frosting. The frosting serves as an edible “glue” to hold the candies. You can apply the candies in any order or style you prefer. After adding the candies to the glass, place the glasses in the refrigerator to chill for at least 20 minutes. checking on them about halfway through to make sure none have slipped down (if so, push them back into place with a bit more frosting, if necessary). Placing in the refrigerator will help to set/harden the frosting.
Next, you are ready to make your milkshake. Get out your blender and scoop the vanilla ice cream into it. Add all of your spices and sprinkle in your crushed gingersnap cookies. Add the vanilla extract and milk and blend for 30 to 45 seconds or until completely thick and creamy.
Pour the gingerbread milkshake into the prepared candy-rimmed serving glasses. Garnish with a generous helping of whipped cream and additional candies. Insert a colorful straw and place a gingerbread man cookie on top rim of the glasses. If necessary, you can use a bit more frosting on the rim to hold the gingerbread man in place. Placing the straw right behind the gingerbread man also helps. ENJOY!!
