As part of the Restaurant.com #ReviewCrew, I treated some of my blogging friends to lunch at Las Vegas restaurant, Mark Rich’s New York Pizza & Pasta. Here’s what we ordered and our thoughts on our visit.
A few times a month, a few of my local Las Vegas blogging friends and I get together to collaborate and connect. We always bring our computers and while we chat and discuss, we are usually working on a blog post, social media, or some of the other aspect of our jobs. I’ve come to cherish these informal meet-ups as they get me out of my own house, give me a change of scenery and always leave me feeling renewed. It’s great to be able to brainstorm and bounce ideas off of other bloggers who are genuinely rooting for your success.
Since these meet-ups have been so valuable to me, I decided to surprise my friends by paying for lunch recently. Generally, we’ll order take-out from one of the nearby restaurants, with each of us paying for whatever we ordered. This time around, I went to Restaurant.com and searched for a discounted gift certificate to a local Las Vegas restaurant that offered take-out. Shortly into my search, I came across Mark Rich’s New York Pizza & Pasta — a locally owned pizza shop with New York style pizza.
I read the review for Mark Rich’s New York Pizza & Pasta and they seemed like a great choice. I gave my friends the link to their online menu and told them to order whatever they wanted — lunch was on me. Well, lunch was on me and Restaurant.com. See, with their discounted certificates, I was able to buy a $10 certificate for only $4, giving me a savings of $6 — that nearly covered one of their lunches.
I called in the order and 20 minutes later, I stopped in at Mark Rich’s and picked up our order. I apologize for the blurry photo, but I wanted to give you a glimpse of the fun decor in this little pizza shop — lots of framed photos and art all over the walls.
Picking up and paying for my order — even with the Restaurant.com certificate — was super fast and easy. The woman who took care of everything was very friendly. I asked her a few questions regarding serving sizes on a few of their menu items and she was quite helpful. After paying, I was on my way. Once back at my friends house, we were ready to dig in!
I ordered the Grilled Chicken and Cheese Calzone (medium size) and it was AMAZING. Have you ever ate a restaurant and loved it so much that you go back, but tell yourself you’ll order something different? But then you order the exact same thing? This is one of those meals. I loved it so much that while I intend to try other menu items, I have a feeling that I will keep going back to this. Oh, and that sauce? So good too.
I also ordered their Garlic Knots for everyone to share. They were awesome — see all that garlic? Yeah, that’s just my style.
One of my friends ordered their Philly Cheesesteak with Onions and Peppers. It also came with a side of french fries. I thought it looked great and she seemed to enjoy it.
One of my other friends ordered their Shawarma Pita, which was pita bread stuffed with beef and lamb with vegetables and a side of tzatziki Sauce. I don’t have a photo of it, but we also ordered their Greek salad for all of us to share. While it was a fine Greek salad, I did wish that the lettuce was tossed with the dressing. But it did offer plenty of feta (which I think some restaurants tend to skimp on), olives, and cucumbers.
While none of us actually ordered the pizza at Mark Rich’s New York Pizza & Pasta this time (kind of funny if you think about it), one of my blogging friends did say that she’s had it before and that they loved it. I know that I was impressed enough that I will definitely be back. As a matter of fact, I brought David home a couple Garlic Knots and he was instantly jealous that he didn’t get lunch from there, so I think I’m going to owe him a trip to Mark Rich’s very soon.
