Remember last week when I talked about needing a good, new wooden spoon? Well, to my surprise, that’s exactly what my husband gave me for Mother’s Day. David gave it to me in a gift bag, but when he handed it to me, he seemed a bit embarrassed. I asked him what was wrong and he said that he hopes I “like it” and that he didn’t buy me “one of the most expensive ones”.
I kissed him and told him thank you…and told him how much I loved my new spoons. That I didn’t need an expensive set – that when I mentioned wanting a good set of wooden spoons, I just meant that I didn’t want one from the dollar store (been there, done that). Or one that would give me splinters. That was all.
I’m a simple girl – I don’t need big and expensive. And my new spoons are PERFECT. And, I asked him, “did you ready my blog post this week about the wooden spoons?” and he said he didn’t. I really don’t think he did – which makes me even more impressed that he got me a set.
And Mother’s Day was wonderful – David got me the spoons and the older two kids got me a Starbucks Celebration coffee mug. You peel of the label and then using the white marker that comes with it, you can autograph it – make doodles, whatever. And it’s permanent. Later, the kids and David are going to sign it for me. Mattie got me a long stemmed red rose and made me a beautiful card and popsicle stick photo frame.
Here’s a photo of the spoons and the mug:
And, as if all this wasn’t enough, they took me out to a Mexican restaurant where I ate way too much yummy food!
Here’s my menu plan for this week:
- Monday: Leftovers
- Tuesday: Baked Fish Tacos with Mango Guacamole
- Wednesday: Rotini with Simple Pasta Sauce
- Thursday: Teriyaki Turkey Tenderloin Salad
- Friday: Grilling Out – Turkey Burgers
- Saturday: BBQ Chicken Quesadillas
- Sunday: Baked Macaroni and Cheese (Mattie special request)
Thanks for stopping by!
