Here’s how to make baked tortilla chips at home to enjoy with your favorite salsa!
We love chips and salsa in our house. David and I especially love how healthy salsa is and it’s perfect for parties or get-together. But, what we don’t always like is the fat that comes from frying tortillas chips or that comes bags of tortillas chips from the store. Sure, they’re good, and we do buy bags occasionally, but it can destroy our daily Weight Watchers points in no time.
Our solution is to make baked tortilla chips. They are really easy to make and it’s not uncommon to find us making a batch each weekend to enjoy with some homemade salsa.
For making your own homemade baked tortilla chips, you will simply corn tortillas into wedges. In this photo below, I used cute little taco stand mini corn tortillas, so I only cut them in fourths. You can use regular sized corn tortillas, but you may want to cut them into each more pieces. As you can see, I cut a stack of tortillas all at once.
Place your tortilla wedges on a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray and then spray the tops of the tortillas with cooking spray. Sprinkle with salt.
Note: I usually like to line my baking sheet with parchment paper, then spray with cooking spray and then place the tortilla chips on. But you don’t have to.
Bake your tortilla wedges in the oven at 350 degrees F for about 8-10 minutes (or until they are starting to brown). Remove from oven and place in a bowl.
Serve with your favorite salsa!
If you have kids, you might want to try Fruit Cup Salsa — individual cups of fruit salsa. It’s really easy to customize each cup based on personal tastes.
