If you’re looking for fun Halloween Jello Shots for your next Halloween party, you’re in the right place! We paired up with some of the best food bloggers out there to share the very best boozy gelatin shots recipes for your next Halloween party or get-together!
If there was a holiday made for jello shots, it would have to be Halloween! Jello Shots are a popular party cocktail made of a mixture of gelatin and alcohol. If you’ve never made them before, don’t worry — they are so easy to make!
One of the best things about Jello Shots is that they can be made in advance. This leaves you plenty of time to enjoy hanging out with your friends and family, rather than having to play bartender. Or, if you will be serving other cocktails, beer, or wine, they are still great to have for an added option.
The 2nd best thing about jello shots is that are SO many creative ways to make them. Whether scary or gross or spooky but cute, they are easy to match your party theme or style.
How to Make Jello Shots
Jello Shots typically start out with boxed Jello (gelatin), which is poured into a mixing bowl. Then, boiling water is poured over it and you stir until the Jello powder is dissolved. Other ingredients may be added too, depending on the recipe.
One of the last steps in making Jello Shots is adding the alcohol that the recipe calls for. Vodka is one of the most popular additions. Tequila is also popular, particularly in Margarita Jello Shots. Rum and rum liqueurs are also used — such as in Malibu Jello Shots.
Jello Shot Cups
Once all the ingredients are mixed together, most jello shot recipes have you pour your mixture into small portion cups. Recipes vary, but we recommend using 2-ounce plastic cups that are readily available online and at many grocery stores.
If you do buy them at a grocery store, or a store like Walmart, you can usually find them near the plastic cups in the paper goods aisles. Sometimes you’ll find them near the food storage bags and foil.
Not all jello shots use a plastic cup. Some are made in small jello molds and others use creepy jello shot syringes (no needles, of course!). If you want your jello shots to be a bit more classy, you could even use shot glasses. However they are made, we’ve shared some unique jello shots that are sure to put the right amount of spooky fun into your party or get-together.
