Tonight, we took a trip over to CVS to take advantage of a couple items they had on sale. We didn't expect to leave the store with much, but was surprised to find a bunch of food items on 90% off. Apparently this particular store was trying to clear out some of the excess holiday items they had in stock.
For the most part, I don't usually get much groceries at a store like CVS - just the occasional snack item or cereals. But, every once in a while, I can find unexpected deals. I went through

Bountiful Baskets – Week Before Thanksgiving
The Saturday before Thanksgiving, we picked up our Bountiful Basket food co-op baskets. This time around, we paid to contribute to the standard basket ($15), plus the Hostess Pack ($14). As usual, I was pleased with what I received and it does seem that we have continued to receive much more produce in value than what I would get if I bought everything at the grocery store.
There was a few duplicate items (things in the usual basket and then also in the hostess pack), but that didn't bother
Bountiful Baskets: My New Food Co-Op
I mentioned in my last weekly menu post that I was going to try out something that I've always wanted to do - a food co-op. At my local homeschool group park day, I learned of a local one called Bountiful Baskets. I went home, looked up all the info, and joined the first chance that I had.
Bountiful Baskets is a volunteer co-op that operates in a few states, mostly in the west: Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Texas, Arizona, Nevada & Washington. The cost is very reasonable - only
Las Vegas Farmer’s Markets
One day, while I was sitting back in my old house in Virginia, I started to wonder...
Is there Farmer's Markets in Las Vegas?
After all, it's DESERT. And it's HOT.
I don't know a thing about gardening, can things even grow when it's that hot?
I pulled out trusty Google and learned that, yes, there is farmer's markets in Las Vegas. Several of them, as a matter of fact. I was relieved - and excited to visit once we got settled.
Earth Fare’s Southern Fried Tofu (I’m Lovin’ It)
A little while ago, I posted about our family field trip to Earth Fare - The Healthy Supermarket. I LOVE Earth Fare - I could do a whole "I'm Lovin' It" post on how much I love that store. While on that trip, I saw Doug's Famous Southern Fried Tofu in the deli case. Tofu is a totally new thing for us.
I've always been scared of tofu.
But in my Earth Fare post I mentioned that I might try that tofu someday. And, well...I DID!
On my next visit, I was brave and I walked right up there and
Family Field Trip: Earth Fare – The Healthy Supermarket
Wanna go on a field trip with us?
Recently I learned about a grocery store called Earth Fare - The Healthy Supermarket. We don't have stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, etc. in our area, so when I found out we had a grocery store with a variety of organic and healthier options, I had to visit it. I told David about it and we immediately planned a family field trip!
We seriously get excited about stuff like this. The plan for the day was to go to lunch (pizza) and then hit Earth Fare.
