For over a year, my family and I have been incorporating more and more low carb dinners into our mealtime rotation (like our Low Carb Cheeseburger Casserole and Mashed Cauliflower Shepherd’s Pie). As a matter of fact, for several months, our meals were strictly keto. Currently, we’ve settled into a balance of low carb meals with some non-low carb meals and it’s proving to be a great fit for us.
Chicken one of the most common meats we use for meals — whether low carb or not. We have at least 1 or 2 meals each week that uses chicken. Chicken breasts or thighs are our usual go-to’s, but on occasion, we have drumsticks.

If you’d like an incredibly easy chicken drumstick recipe, you’re in the right place! The side benefit of this recipe is that it is also low carb and keto-friendly. But, don’t worry, if you don’t follow a low carb or keto way of eating, you’re going to still enjoy this easy chicken dinner.

Low Carb Sweet Glazed Chicken Drumsticks Instructions
To make these easy Low Carb Sweet Glazed Chicken Drumsticks, you will combine all of the ingredients — except for the drumsticks — in a bowl.
A word about Swerve Brown Sugar Substitute: If you need to limit your sugar intake, or you follow a low carb or keto way of eating, you’ll want to use Swerve Brown Sugar Replacement. Even though we eat non-low carb meals, we keep a bag of this and the other Swerve products in our pantry to keep our meals lower in carbs. There may be other brown sugar replacements available, but this is the only one I personally have experience with.

If you are not eating low carb or keto, you can substitute regular light brown sugar in this recipe. Use the same amount.
After your marinade is all mixed up, pour it into a large zipper style food storage bag. Place the chicken drumsticks into the bag and marinade. Remove as much air as possible in the bag and seal it securely. With the bag closed, massage the drumsticks so that they are completely coated in the marinade.

How Long to Marinate the Chicken?
Once the chicken is all coated in the bag, you’ll place it in the refrigerator. How long you marinate the chicken will depend on how much time you have:
If you are short on time, marinate the chicken for no less than 30 minutes. This will also the chicken to take on some of the flavors.
If you have a bit more time, we recommend that you marinate the chicken for 2-4 hours for even better flavor. Have a bit more time? We typically marinate our chicken for 4-6 hours.
If you like to prepare food early, we suggest marinating the chicken for up to 12 hours.
If you don’t have zipper style food storage bags, you can marinade the chicken drumsticks directly in the bowl, however you may need to stir/move around the chicken once or twice during the marinading.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Bake the drumsticks on a rack for 30 minutes, flip them, and cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees.

What to Serve with Low Carb Sweet Glazed Chicken?
This recipe is very versatile, so you can serve it with pretty much anything. All of your favorite chicken meal side dishes will work.
If you eat low carb or keto, some side dish ideas would be mashed or riced cauliflower, oven-roasted lemon asparagus, or green beans with mushroooms.
If you don’t follow a low carb way of eating, some side dishes we like are oven-roasted red-skin potatoes, Parmesan Roasted Acorn Squash, or Broccoli Rice Casserole.
