Here are my picks for Food Memories Monday for the week of 10/01/12. They were selected based on the food memory they share (not the photography or even the recipe) because their food story touched me, made me laugh, made me think, or just because I thought it was cool.
If you have a post on your own blog that shares a food memory, you can link it up in the linky at the bottom of this post. All I ask is that you either add my Home Cooking Memories button graphic to your post or a simple text

What a busy weekend! I've been at the Blogalicious blogging conference and having a great time! I was tempted to not join #SundaySupper this week because of how busy I knew this week would be, but the theme was SO easy, I couldn't pass it up!
This week's theme is "5 Ingredients or Less", hosted by Amber of Mama's Blissful Bites (which just so happens to have one of the most fun blog
Food Memories Monday – Week of 9/24/12
Welcome to Food Memories Monday! Each Monday I share a few blog blog posts I have enjoyed because of the food story they tell. I don't judge the photography, or even the recipe itself, but if the story touches me, makes me laugh, or makes me think, I consider featuring it here.
One of the fun parts of Food Memories Monday is that I host a link up at the end of this post where you can share your own blog posts that share a special food memory. If you link up all I ask is that you either add

I am a geeky mom of a geeky family that loves super heroes! Avengers is the ultimate when it comes to super hero movies and we are beyond excited for it come out on DVD & Blu-Ray, this Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

I'm a bit jealous of those of you who have Autumn weather already appearing in your areas. I guess you could say that Las Vegas is cooling down a bit, but today's high was still at least 95 degrees F. Well, at least the nights feel like they are getting cooler.
While it doesn't feel very Fall-ish in these parts, there is things I do that (somewhat) satisfy my love of the season. One thing I do is go all out with my Autumn decorating. I think I decorate almost as much for Autumn (and Halloween

Fried Zucchini with Chipotle Ranch Dip and Parmesan Cheese Ranch Dip
Here's one of many weird things about me: I don't like ranch dressing, unless it's used as a dip. I can't handle it on a salad. Or even on sandwiches, or other ways I've seen it used. It's not like I would refuse it if I went to your house and you told me that was the only salad dressing you had, but I definitely don't prefer it.
But, for a dip, I think it's fabulous. Right out of the bottle works for me, but you can also get creative with bottled ranch dressing. I've got two ranch dip ideas
Baked Flautas
Oh, you are in for a real treat: today is Mexican Independence Day! And for us foodies, that means another excuse for delicious MEXICAN FOOD! My absolute favorite cuisine of all time.
For #SundaySupper this week, we have the wonderful Heather of girlichef hosting and the theme is Mexican Fiesta. You can find the links to all the deliciousness at the end of this post.
For the #SundaySupper Mexican Fiesta, I am sharing Flautas, which is one of our family favorite Mexican dinners. Flautas are a
Las Vegas Restaurant: Hash House a Go Go
There is a lot of Las Vegas restaurants. I have no clue how many, but when you factor in everything from fast food to the fine dining, it's a lot. I would imagine that if you ate at a different restaurant every night, it would take you several years to get through it all. And probably just when you were done, you'd have another list of new ones to start with.
With that being said, if I go to a restaurant more than once, more than twice, there must be a reason.
Hash House a Go Go is one of
Crispy Garlic-Parmesan Chicken (plus our shredded chicken FAIL)
When I meal plan, I usually balance easy meals with time-consuming meals. If I know that I will be cooking for hours on one day, the next day will almost always be something easier.
This Crispy Garlic-Parmesan Chicken is an example of an easy meal I made. It was made with a new Progresso Recipe Starters cooking sauce, which was sent to me to try out. The recipe was easy and the chicken turned out good. I loved that the breading was equal parts of Parmesan cheese and panko bread crumbs. I'm not
